“Full Court Press” has some big(gish) names on it. Wiz Khalifa is certainly an internet rap star (great singles–yet his albums don’t have staying power). Big K.R.I.T. has made some amazing Southern Gospel hip hop (although he’s past his prime). Girl Talk are skilled producers. And FCP draws features by other great B-listers: Curren$y (one of my personal favorite current Southern rappers). Smoke DZA. Even Nile Rogers!
Nothing here will stick to your ribs, but sometimes it’s cool just to hear a FUN pass-the-mic session. And this album definitely qualifies. It’s a party. I can’t help wishing K.R.I.T. would find his return-to-greatness inspiration. Cadilactica, The 4eva series, and K.R.I.T. Wuz Here are all fantastic. I want more of that. But I’m patient. I’ll wait.
