“Uneven Ground” is a mature record. Lynne Hanson has an adult voice–it’s got richness and depth, and it speaks of experience. I’m not saying it’s “old.” I’m saying it’s an album of substance by an artist who knows her way around a song.
It’s important to lead with that when you’re reviewing a country record by a slight, blonde girl. Because they’re usually a dime a dozen in this genre, yet most of them never make a song as wonderful as Counting Heartbeats or Broken With You.
