Here’s an interesting little tidbit: Janes Addiction has the Billboard record for longest time between number-one songs, with the 13 year span between Been Caught Stealing and Just Because.
Stealing was actually the second single off of JA’s breakthrough album Ritual de lo Habitual—they actually tried to do Three Days as a single. Really?
Stealing was the band’s biggest hit, and it’s pure adrenaline. From the opening dogs barking to Perry Farrell’s sing-songy fade out “It’s miiiiiiiiiiiiiinnnee” at the end, maintained by aggressive drums and explosive guitar work that basically drives on one powerful riff. Oh, and in the middle a car starts and drives off. All that in about three minutes.
