Let me say a few things that will immediately lower my esteem in your eyes: I’m not a huge Beatles fan. I appreciate their impact, but I think John Lennon and George Harrison’s solo work is better than what they did as part of the first Rock and Roll Megaband. Also, my favorite Beatle isn’t John or Paul. It’s George. (I’m not completely crazy–I know it’s not Ringo.)
So, when I pick the top 20 Beatles songs, you know my picks will be pretty nonstandard. And I’m beginning celebrating the band on the anniversary of George Harrison’s death–November 29, 2001.
