“Mother of My Children” is a really good, quiet album. I expect to see it on a few best of the year lists in a couple months. Maybe even one on this site! It’s got a deep and pensive vibe, and seems to brim with intensity.
On the other hand, “Remains” feels like a lighter version of Peter Gabriel. Gabriel is really, really heavy and dense, and Folly and the Hunter have a similar vocal and rhythm quality, but overall the tone is sunnier. And those drums…Wow.
