TAKE BACK THE NIGHT by THE DWARVES

Warning: The new album by the Dwarves comes with heavy doses of cynicism, and a lot of screaming.  Titled, “Take Back the Night,” it’s definitely not in the spirit of that social movement, which is about enabling women to walk the streets without fear of being assaulted.  No.  This album complains that San Francisco is too PC, and the title song’s refrain is “Fight!  Kill!  Die!  Wherever you hang your whore is home!”  So be warned.

And yet, I think they’re trying to say something. I’m not sure what. But something.

The music is clear punk and hardcore, with pop melody and harmonies.

Not for everyone, to be sure, but I loved it.
