I think we all knew when we grew up, the things we loved would be used to hook us in and get our money. But this time, it’s for a great cause! Sixteen Austin artists putting out 18 1980s covers, and all the money goes to give music lessons to foster kids. The ones you might expect are here: Time After Time, Dancing With Myself, Eye of the Tiger, alongside some more daring choices like Safety Dance (a personal favorite but admittedly one of the stupidest songs of the 1980s), Rush’s Subdivisions, and even Devo’s Girl U Want–a song that was perfect when it was recorded the first time, and yet there’s still room for a new take.
