Okay, yeah, “When you dream, the nightmares ain’t as bad as they seem….” The conceit of this collaboration from two of the best lyricists of the early part of this Century is Freddie vs. Jason. FvJ. Get it? If you don’t mind that there are several cuts where they literally compare themselves to the splatter movie titans (it’s a little silly, but fun), you can dig deeper and find some truly great street raps like “Stand Up” and “Ground Up.”
Or Theme Music, which samples Marvin Gaye, where Jada spits: “I’m in homeroom with dime sacks, if you miss somethin’ rewind that,” letting us know that the verses will be coming fast. And they do.
This is a really, really good album. The two giants trade verses and cuts, pound for pound. So who wins? We do.
Featuring appearances from Future, Swizz Beatz, Teyana Taylor, French Montana, Styles P, Yo Gotti and Jeezy.
