I must get between five and ten new psych rock submissions every week. Honestly, it’s often hard to tell them apart. But Babe Rainbow’s self-titled debut full-length rose above for several reasons. First, the songs are full of sound. Not noise, sound. Yeah, there’s fuzz and gray, but there’s also handclaps, expert minimal guitar leads, excellent percussion…There’s layers and layers of sound here. Sounds you’ll miss at first listen, so you’ll need to go back.
Apparently, the man behind Babe Rainbow has been making records for half a decade. It shows. Good stuff.
