I’m not sure what to make of this band, but I’m writing them up because “The London Book Of The Dead,†is oddly compelling. Or perhaps I should say odd and compelling. British singer-songwriter Stephen Coates melds old wax LP swing samples with modern loops and electronic beeps and burps to form
what he calls “antique beat.†The Six Degrees label should be commended for this kind of radical atmospheric experimentation. Check it out.
