GOLDEN DAYS by MAMA’S GUN

Sometimes, you need to feel good.  “When livin’ becomes too hard…I need an angel on my shoulder/Somebody watching over/’Cause I need a win…”

Mama’s Gun—a band that shares its name with the second (and best) album by Erykah Badu—are here to tell you that R and B still matters, and it can still make you feel good.  Yeah, this is an extremely retro album, but it’s a welcome, refreshing one that feels completely original.  Moving easily between 1960s soul, funk, and a taste of jazz and disco…Oh!  And is that the slightest hint of reggae at the start of “Strangers on a Street?”

The message is consistent and clear: Music makes life a better place.

Highest recommendation.
