Marti Sarbit is amazing. As the singing half of Canadian duo Imaginary Cities, she’s already earning comparisons to Macy Gray and other females with unusual, sultry, powerful, and unforgettable voices. And deservedly so. Her delivery is captivating. Her partner in the band, polyinstrumentalist Rusty (The Weakerthans) Maytas is no less talented, crafting hooks and riffs and songs that are pretty much guaranteed to stick to your ears for days. Weeks. I’ve had this album on repeat for days–I’m enjoying more than just about any pop album I’ve heard this year.
This is easily a candidate for the best pop album of 2011!
