The latest psychedelic Americana excursion by Strand of Oaks is not their best album. In my view, that would be Eraserland–a record that was much more experimental. “In Heaven” takes those same off-kilter themes and smooths out the edges, making it a much more polished–and much more listenable–product. Making this probably their second best album.
And from a group who have been turning alt-country on its head for eight albums, that’s nothing to sneeze at.
The talent of this band is undeniable.
