So apparently this female singer-songwriter with an incredible voice and a wonderfully understated way of arranging a song has been around for a while now, and has played with folks like Amos Lee and John Prine. But until her 2017 release, Post Cards, I’d never heard of her.
And, frankly, I bought PCs because of the guest list: Calexico, David Lindley, Bon Iver, Mason Jennings…It’s basically a who’s who of indie folk, including an appearance by a man who may be largely responsible for the entire genre: Mark Knopfler.
This is a quite and subtle record, and if you don’t listen close you might miss how good the guitar work is. I know I did at first listen, because I was swept away by Pieta’s voice.
