Bushwick Brooklyn’s J-Live is one of those guys who’ve been in the business forever, never became a household name, but it’s hard to find anyone who doesn’t recognize his skill. He’s had shots with many respected and underground rappers like El Da Sensei, Handsome Boy Modeling School, Jazzy Jeff, Oddissee, RA the Rugged Man, Homeboy Sandman, and dozens more.
His latest album is a Bandcamp-only album, still solid and true to the game, never giving up his positive bent, and always an artist worth supporting.
Yung Lean is the exact opposite of J-Live. He’s white and from the whitest place on Earth: Sweden. He calls himself Lucifer and raps about drugs. Lots of drugs. He’s got a slow, stoned-out drawl, no bounce at all, and his beats fell thick and soupy. And yet, there’s something compelling here.
