JESSE AYCOCK (self titled)

Perhaps best known as a collaborator on Todd Snider’s Hard Working Americans project, Jesse Aycock offers a collection of original folk/rock songs, each more deliberate than the next.

Do NOT listen to this album if you’re feeling impatient. The songs have a catchiness to them, but they’re casual. They get where their going in a walk, gently, down a sweet summer path.

I’ve seen them described as “sad,” but I don’t agree. Mellow, yes. Subtle, for sure. But this album brought me peace, not sadness.

Good stuff!

RIYL: The Byrds, Gram Parsons, ’60s Laurel Canyon folk rock, and, of course, Hard Working Americans.
