Nothing in Silver Sythetic’s debut will knock you over–it’s ’70s-style classic rock, with gentle licks and wistful vocals. Don’t let that stop you from picking this up. It’s a keeper.
Each song is well-crafted, sweet and catchy. I definitely will be putting this record on rotation.
It’s also a short album, which is good. It means they stuck to the best songs they’d written, rather than fill the record out with lesser material that, frankly, would have gotten boring. Sticking to a tight 8 songs, Silver Synthetic were able to keep me listening and, when it was over, wanting to hear a little bit more.
RIYL: New Pornographers, The Byrds, Tom Petty’s more country-oriented stuff, etc.
