My pick for album of the week this time is a covers album, the latest in Die Toten Hosen’s series that deep dives into particular genres. Last time, it was punk. This time: Liverpool!
Actually, that’s a bit misleading. The songs here are largely Motown, but they’re in the style of Liverpool’s most famous musical alums.
And it’s a blast. Sadly, streams don’t appear to be available, so all I can share is the videos above.
But take my word for it, it’s a terrific, fun record.
And my runner-up for the month: A similar effort by post-punkers A Loss for Words.
Nicely done.
