Joell has released another underground collection of rhymes, the EP “Box Talk,” which features a boom box on the cover.
I’m struck that in a lot of ways, Ortiz is “too old for this shit.” I mean, he’s burned through a major label deal and has been rapping since the mid-2000s. Running the streets is a young man’s game. It’s hard to imagine him doing the acts of rebellion and violence, and having sex with his Tims on, like he talks about on this EP. And yet, Ortiz still sounds convincing.
“I should get my liquor license, I’m just out here with bars…”
Produced by the acclaimed Salaam Remi.
I’m still an Ortiz fan. After all these years.
