SEEING OTHER PEOPLE by FOXYGEN

Foxygen’s latest album, “Seeing Other People,” is about breaking up. And that’s perfect, because this is a broken album. It moves in a fluid space around funk, disco, modern pop, and experimental (unpredictable) pop, which is to say that it doesn’t always hit perfectly–but it always tries to.

The best song on the album, “Face the Facts,” is a terrific hit. At other spots, the album can meander a bit. But that’s the point of experimental music, isn’t it? To shift and keep you unsteady? It won’t be for everyone. Either you like making a pop Springsteen imitation (“The Thing Is”) or you don’t. Either you like a gentle lament (“Living a Lie”) or you don’t.

It’s a solid listen. Check it out.
