Sometimes, I hear a record and start to research it for review, and get confused because what I find is a total disconnect from what I thought. Sometimes, that makes me rethink whether it’s worthy for review. Other times, I find so little information about the album–nobody’s even reviewed it–that I wonder if I’m crazy just for giving it a listen.

Taken by Trees is the solo project of Victoria Bergsman, formerly of The Concretes, so she’s got the indie pedigree. So why aren’t more people listening?

I can’t explain that. Because I listened to this album twice to make sure I wasn’t wrong. It’s good. It’s very good. Yes, it’s about four songs too long, but the rest of it is solid, smooth pop music that I know I’ll still be listening to years from now.
