2017 was not a great year for America. But musically? It was pretty damn fine. Hopefully, when we look back on it, this is what we’ll remember, and the State of our Union—and the world—will be in the rearview mirror.

And speaking of the rear view: We saw some classic rockers like Robert Plant and Gregg Allman (rest in peace) release some of their best work in decades, and some ‘90s faves (Beck, Juliana Hatfield) come out with strong releases that brought us back to our younger days. And we lost some greats—like my personal favorite, Tom Petty, which was sad, but led to some great covers.
