I like my country music earnest, with a large helping of heartbreak, and Ed Dupas delivers in spades. His new album, Tennessee Night, would be worth the price of admission just for the song, “Do It For Me,” wherein he pleads with his lover, “There’s nothing I can say, I can’t live this way, so if you won’t do it for you, do it for me…” Maybe it’s because I’ve been there, in a relationship where we still love each other but we’re just not happy, but this song hits me right in the gut.
But there’s lots more. Dupas is a master lyricist, and a top-notch musician. Even if you don’t dig country, you’ll find a reason to love this.
