Pretty much anything you see on Stones Throw is at least worst a couple spins. But Sudan Archive? They get all the spins.
They, or should I say “she” (because Sudan Archives is really just Brittney Denise Park) is a violinist Yes, a violinist. And she’s on Stones Throw, which means in some way she qualifies as hip hop and soul. She’s also a great vocalist, and her new EP is a hypnotic collection of rhythms that feel exotic and familiar, sexy and smart.
It’s too bad it’s just an extended player–because as soon as I got to the end, I had to start over again.
