This brief EP by a Toronto singer won’t change your life, but it should make you pause. The snaps are all perfectly placed. The breathy vocal comes in exactly right after the driving chorus and hook. The drums kick in just when you’re missing them.
The production on this EP is extraordinary.
Apparently, RALPH was a hit last year, when “Cold to the Touch drew millions of ears on Spotify (it’s included on this EP), but this is the first I’m hearing of this rising star. She’s on the same label that launched Carly Rae Jepsen, and this makes perfect sense. There’s no reason any one of these songs couldn’t be as big as “Call Me Maybe.”
If these songs don’t make you love listening, you just don’t like pop music.
