Your Old Droog is one of my favorite underground artists right now, and he always seems like he’s right on the verge of breaking. I’ve written about him here a bunch of times–several of his jams end up on my best of the year lists–and yet he’s still best known as a guest MC.
Both New Yorkers with retro flow, the EP is five cuts over Kool Keith samples and production by some of the best, like Black Milk, Statik Selektah, and Illmind. While nobody releases their absolute best stuff on a freEP, but Droog’s team up with Wiki is close. Check out “Parlay,” a really fun tune–you don’t get innocent, non-sexual, nonviolent rap much anymore. It’s just real life.
Ostensibly, it’s to promote Droog’s second album, “Packs,” which comes out in March.

Make sure you listen to Vigilantes. Awesome cut.
