LINDSEY BUCKINGHAM/CHRISTINE MCVIE

Christie McVie’s biggest career problem was being in a band with Stevie Nicks, and Lindsey Buckingham made the mistake of partnering with Mick Fleetwood. Both of them were overshadowed by other elements of their band, and yet their individual, non-Fleetwood Mac projects have been very, very good. In fact, McVie’s voice has always been more powerful to me than Stevie’s. I love Dreams as much as the next guy, but Don’t Stop moves me more. And I love Gold Dust Woman, but Oh Daddy feels so much more personal.

I guess I don’t need to compare them. All the members of FM have produced decades of wonderful music. So it should be no surprise that McVie and Buckingham’s 2017 album was fantastic. It didn’t get nearly enough recognition. And if it had come out in the 1980s, it would probably still be getting play on classic rock stations across the world.

Don’t miss it.
