Holly Miranda offers an all-covers EP with some great reworkings of a very eclectic batch of songs. It starts with the obvious hit: Hold On, We’re Coming by Drake—done as a beautiful indie ballad. Then we get a slow and mystical take on Bon Iver, followed by an acoustic version of Morphine’s “In Spite of Me” that I daresay is better than the original. Round it out with a few songs you’ve probably never heard of (Forever Young by Alphaville; Lhasa De Sela’s, “Love Came Here;” and Hundreds of Sparrows by Sparklehorse), and you’ve got a wonderful little collection of tunes.
Miranda has been on the music scene for over a decade, and this is her first covers collection. Check it out.
