THE TOP 100 REASONS TO LISTEN TO MUSIC IN 2015: #75-51

70. LYDIA LOVELESS-I Would Die 4 U (Prince cover)
Another wonderful record store day release….

69. INSTANT EMPIRE-Dead Air
It’s a snarling power-pop/punk anthem that would matter if alternative radio was still a thing.

68. TAMPER-Disparate Youth (Santigold cover)
Aren’t we due for new Santigold? It’s been like four years.

67. THE DELTA ROUTINE-You and Your Lion
This self-released, country/bar room blues album is a blast.

66. B.O.B.-Back and Forth
An upbeat rap tune from a guy who used to be great before the labels made him generic. Some of his original spark is evident in this track.

65. WATKINS FAMILY HOUR-Brokedown Palace (Grateful Dead cover)
Making sure Jerry’s legacy isn’t forgotten, here’s a very nice cover of a lesser-known GD song.

64. MARY LOU LORD-Backstreet Angels
I guess if you take over a decade between albums, you can expect people might have forgotten you. But somehow, she returned this year with a truly terrific record.

63. DEJ LOAF-Hands Down
A slow grind from an up-and-coming female rapper. She’s better known for Me U and Hennessey, which is also good.

62. RUNAWAY-Chloe Black (Kanye West cover)
Yeah, lots of people have covered this song. I mean, lots of people. But Goddamn, she sings the fuck out of this song, turning it into a bluesy heartbreaker.

61. CANNIBAL OX-The Blade of the Ronin
Good underground hip hop, and an appearance by MF DOOM!
