OZ WILL SWALLOW YOUR SOUL: Bruce Campbell in Sam Raimi’s “Oz” film (and a brief Raimi retrospective)

I love Sam Raimi. bruce campbell

I’ve seen every film of his, and loved just about all of them. He’s the genius behind arguably the most important superhero movie of the past 20 years, and one of the most influential horror films of the past 50.

But I can’t say I was excited to hear he’d be working on a film based on Frank L. Baum’s Oz character, titled “Oz: The Great and Powerful.” The movie will be a prequel to the 1939 classic—one of the most beloved movies of all time—and will tell the story of how Oscar Diggs (James Franco) became “Oz.” Bruce Campbell has been a confirmed participant, and anyone who loves Raimi has to love Campbell as well. Long before Burn Notice, he was the muse for some of Raimi’s greatest work.
