Coming out of Athens (Ohio, not Georgia) in the 1990s, Red Wanting Blue have been around for a long time, without a 
record label. That’s a testament to their skills, because they sold out shows without a hype machine behind them. Their 2008 album, These Magnificent Miles, is being re-released by Fanatic Records, and is getting distribution through EMI. I’ve made them an exception to my no-majors rule because this album is damn good, and the band struggled as indie artists for so many years, they deserve all the breaks they can get. If you need a genre description, let’s go with indie pop/folk.
