Yeah, B.O.B. finally got his major label release, and I have to admit: It’s pretty damn good. It’s an obvious attempt to hit all the markets, with appearances by a major-label rapper (who sounds indie: Lupe Fiasco), the pop girl of the month (who sounds indie: Hayley Williams), a veteran of the groundbreaking indie days (Rivers Cuomo), and the once-great-now-struggling Eminem, among others, and a cover that looks like something Kanye would drop. And yeah, B.O.B. deserved better than this. But again, it’s pretty good for a highly-produced, highly-marketable major label debut, and when Bobby Ray is allowed to shine, his skills and charm do push through all the glitz and guest stars.
And it looks like he might have this summer’s Crazy on his platter . . .
