ALBUMS OF THE WEEK: SPECIAL EDITION: Arab Strap and Fruit Bats

To honor his 20th year using the alias “Fruit Bats,” Eric Johnson recorded an album in quarantine–with his collaborators providing their parts from their own private spaces.

Every Fruit Bats album is good, and this one is no exception. It’s a solid, sweet collection of indie folk that should brighten your mood and make you curious about the lyrics.

Well done!

Runner Up: Black Lash’s self-titled second album is constantly interesting, folky-indie-psych. Indie psych, not the gravelly hard stuff psych has become. Check it out.
And Arab Strap came back with their first album in 16 years. 16 years!!!!

And it’s awesome.
