ALBUM OF THE WEEK: SOMEBODY’S KNOCKING by MARK LANEGAN

Electronic postgrunge! As the frontman for Screaming Trees, Mark Lanegan was part of the Washington state reaction to overproduced corporate rock that was personified by Nirvana and is maintained by Pearl Jam. Now he’s making 1990s style electronic rock. Seriously.

And it’s really good!

Somebody’s Knocking is my pick for Album of the Week–out of those 2019 releases that I heard this week and thought were worth recommending to you, my readers.

Other good stuff from this week: Magpie Salute’s High Water 2, a collection of blues-based rock songs from Rich “Black Crowes” Robinson’s new band. That’s it. Not a lot tickled my fancy this week.
