John Hiatt is one of those country blues guys who seems like he’s always been around, writing great songs, but he’s never gotten “huge” in the popularity sense. But every one of his albums has been dependably good. And his latest, Eclipse Sessions, is no exception.
He gets deep on “Poor Imitation of God.” His guitarwork shines, but subtly, on songs like “All the Way to the River.” He offers a roots rock single on “Cry to Me.”
This is just good music. Good, good music.
