Sometimes I hear an album and I really like it, but I can’t say why. Buck Meek’s self-titled debut full-length is like that. It’s a sparse, quiet affair–and can be challenge to listen to because it is so understated that you have to strain to hear it. Meek, the lead guitarist of the band Big Thief, has created a collection of folky, country-tinged songs that feel immensely personal, even if they are often highly abstract.
