Don’t listen to Yuck if you like your music clean. Yuck’s tunes are fuzzy, guitar-driven songs in full postpunk spirit, unabashedly influenced by the 1990s and full of vigorous, fist-pumping shreds. “Hold Me Closer” was released last year as a glorious teaser, which is made good by the whole album. Even slower songs such as “Like a Moth” are rewarding. It’s Foo Fighters meets Green Day meets Dinosaur Jr. meets the most mainstream Flaming Lips songs—you can feel the love of music in every chord and verse.
I can’t get enough of this band.
