A double album that’s all meat, no filler. A rarity.
The former lead singer of Ride, recognized as one of the leaders of the shoegaze genre, Bell’s new album pulls enough of the familiar from his past membership in the Britpop supergroup to keep his album familiar and nostalgic, but also weaves in modern folk and indie themes to update the sound into something new and wonderful.
His blurred face on the cover makes sense: You’ll kind of recognize him here, but it won’t be a clear line from Flicker to Bell’s older work.
