This album is getting mad love on the interwebs. And I agree it’s good. But it sounds a lot like My Morning Jacket to me, which is to say it doesn’t stick to my ribs. It creates great atmosphere, the vocals captivate, and then when it’s over I don’t really remember it.
It’s atmosphere. I really don’t mean this to be critical–I don’t write reviews of albums I don’t like. There is a definite place in the world for gentle, hypnotizing folk. And this is a fantastic example of it.
