Roc’s first RR mixtape was good. This one is great. Seriously. He’s a minor legend, who has been in the game since the days of Busta Rhymes’ Flipmode Squad, and he’s pretty respected in most circles. Like several long-lasting rappers with similar status, Roc’s work has continued to mature. He’s still all about the C.R.E.A.M., but it’s got the perspective of wisdom now.
This has been a strong year for complex, bar-based rap, and Roc’s new album can stand on its own among all the best of 2018.
