HUMBLE QUEST by MAREN MORRIS

Maren Morris’ star rose swiftly, and she went from teen to superstar in the space of a year. Her last two albums, Girl and Hero, spawned multiple #1 hits and were chock full of terrific pop songs. From there, she formed a country/Americana supergroup called Highwomen.

Humble Quest is the perfect name for most recent record. It’s quieter than her earlier solo albums, and more mature–fewer barnburners and more songs of love, family, and peaceful personal growth.

At first, I was disappointed. Morris’ single “My Church” still gets my blood flowing and I was hoping for more of that. But on a second and third listen, this album grew and grew on me.

It’s a great record.
