ALBUMS OF THE WEEK: The Bobby Lees and Desire Marea

This week: A little punk and a little … Something else.

Starting with The Bobby Lees, a terrific whirlwind of modern garage punk, power chords, howls and screams, sex, and the joy of pure rage.

And then moving immediately to an album I missed in January by half of the South African performance art duo FAKA, Desire Marea’s is an outstanding, fascinating ALBUM. By which I mean, it’s not a collection of songs. I mean, it is a collection of songs. But they make sense together. There certainly are tracks like “You Think I”m Horny” that can be heard standing alone, but…I’m not sure what I’m saying. Other than, listen to this record. It’s amazing.
