it’s only April, but hasn’t 2020 felt like a whole year yet? The good news is, lots of things to keep your ears happy. Here’s my top 15 of the year so far.

The top 15 albums and releases of 2020…So Far

15.  Segall Smeagol by Ty Segall.  A song-for-song cover of Harry Nilsson’s Nilsson Schmilsson.

14.  Forever Just Beyond by Clem Snide. The band returns, after having retired, with a collection of profound and thought-provoking songs.

13.  Saturn Return by Secret Sisters. Brandi Carlile signs on to endorse this terrific country-folk record.

12.  100% Yes by Melt Yourself Down

11.  Harry Styles covering Sledgehammer on The Howard Stern Show.

10.  Melee by Dogleg

9.  Lead Me by Cee-Lo Green.  The artist’s new single is the perfect song for our time.

8.  Bonny Light Horsemen.  Their self-titled debut of beautiful quiet folk.

7. I So Lounging with Amanda Shires. If you can get past the quality of an internet broadcast, you’ll find Shires and her husband Jason Isbell performing their own songs and many great covers, from the expected tribute to John Prine to Pink Floyd’s, “Wish You Were Here,” and even Radiohead.

6.  Christine and the Queens’ La Vita Nuova (EP).

5.  Unlocked by Denzel Curry and Kenny Beats.

4.  Gigaton by Pearl Jam

3.  A Billion Heartbeats by Mystery Jets

2. Auto-Pain by Deeper.

1.  A Written Testimony by Jay Electronica featuring Jay-Z. Fuck Joe Buddens. This is great.
