ALBUM OF THE WEEK: THE ODD CZAR AGAINST US by CZARFACE

Inspectah Deck and Esoteric, over 7L’s beats, return again for yet another terrific album. And they need no guest spots. Their lyric game continues to amaze–have you ever heard a rap jam reference Phillip Glass’ New Age masterpiece Koyaanisqatsi?

Great storytelling, some genuinely funny tunes (like “Call Me”–about how texting is no substitute for actual discussion), and of course hot beats. This came out in early December, after everyone’s “best of the year” lists were done, so I’m considering it a 2020 album.

Check it out. And, after the stream, check out my “runner ups” for album of the week!

Okay–runner ups.

Kevin Daniel’s “Things I Don’t See” is a solid folk/country record worth checking out.
