Back in 2010, music blogs mattered, and the mellow, hipsway indie sound of TV Girl was able to build a fanbase as the darlings of the mp3 circuit mostly off the cred they got by sampling Todd Rundgren. In fact, it caused some copyright concerns and became one of those little indie issues that helped define the areas between fair use and theft.
Those were the good old days.
Since then, TV Girl has consistently put out gentle indie tunes without tons of buzz but they’ve got a solid following, and I’d count myself among them. If they put something out, it’s a lock I’ll check it out.
Death of a Party Girl is exactly what you’d want and expect from the band. If you like them, you’ll dig it. If you don’t already like them, it might make you a fan.
Check it out.
