Here’s a Los Angeles band that borders on shoe gaze (only much more interesting) and wants to give you an album of covers. Why should you accept this offer? Well, first of all, it’s free so you have nothing to lose. Second, these are some damn fine covers. The collection is eclectic–oldies, ’80s, new wave, 1970s quirk pop–so you won’t be bored, and the versions hew close enough that you’ll recognize them immediately but the band puts enough of their own spin that you might not be sure where you recognize them from.
Standouts: Take My Breath Away (Berlin); Life Line (Harry Nillson); and I Only Have Eyes For You (The Flamingos).
