I know that the Talking Heads sound got a little played out when everyone was trying to be the next Arcade Fire, but give this album a chance. Yes, there’s a lot of Arcade Fire ambience and vocal quality, but there’s something fresh underneath it all. An eclectic variety. There’s almost a reggae feel to songs like “Inside a Movie.” There’s a thrashy little bit on “Do the Vent” with guitar work that tastes slightly like post-Beatles Paul McCartney. And then there’s the joyous stomp of Shark!
A very solid release from a Montreal band who, yes, have collaborated with Arcade Fire.
