OL’ BOY by M. WITTE

Ol’ Boy is a simple album. Look at the cover: A dude on a regular, hardback chair sitting in a dark corner of an average room in a sleeveless T playing a guitar. And that’s exactly what you get. Finger-style guitar, extraordinary songwriting, acoustic, no special effects. Rainy day music. Dusk to evening on the porch songs. The kind of stuff that makes you get quiet, and lets your mind drift.

I love this album. And I’m not just staying that because he’s from Brooklyn.

Apparently, this album is a surprise to fans because Matt is the frontman for much more aggressive bands like Chainsaw III. Very good choice on his part to go the Nick Cave route.

And make sure you stick around for the Hank Williams cover, “I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry.”
