Mr. Lif, cofounder of Definitive Jux and former member of The Perceptionists, a Boston rapper with a fast flow, sped up scratch-based beats, and highly political lyrics, is back after almost a decade out of the rap game. It’s a terrific bridge between old-school conscious rap of the late 1990s and the more frenetic pace of modern hip hop.
There’s not enough music like this being made today.
