CABLE & DEADPOOL #30-32 (2006): Civil War

Deadpool is hired by the government to hunt and capture fugitive heroes.

Cable’s on the other side of the war.

But Cable is a little coy about it with Deadpool.

Cable, ruler of the sovereign nation of Providence, offers to protect Captain America and his pals. Cap says no but to try to convince him, Cable reveals that he knows the real identities of Captain America’s “Secret Avengers” team.

Deadpool is spying on the conversation and learns that Daredevil is really Iron Fist. Using that knowledge, Deadpool tracks and attacks Danny Rand.

Cap’s team arrives to stop Deadpool, accompanied by Cable who offers to pay Deadpool more money if he joins with the resistance. Deadpool says no and tries to shoot Cable with a tranquilizer dart, but Cable deflects it back at Deadpool and captures him.

Through some complicated plot points, Cable tricks Deadpool into attacking him on TV. Since Cable is a leader of a nation, and because Deadpool said all kinds of scandalous crap during the fight, Deadpool is fired.

Thus endeth both Cable and Deadpool’s activities during Civil War.
